Wie ben ik/ Who am I

.

Schilderen is mijn hobby. Als kind al hield ik van tekenen en leerde ik te kijken naar afbeeldingen van dieren en mensen. Via diverse teken- en schildercursussen, eerst bij de Volksuniversiteit, later bij de Vrije Akademie Delft, en cursussen bij Paula Kouwenhoven en bij Steven van der Kruit in Delft heb ik mijn schildertechnieken verder kunnen ontwikkelen. Inmiddels heb ik het schilderen weer opgepakt bij Robert Kwist in Zutphen.

Daarnaast heb ik diverse schildervakanties gedaan, Artizon in de Ardeche (docent Gert Hesseling), Tekenstreken in de Achterhoek (docente Marloes Bomers en Dorine van der Ploeg), schilderen in Grimonster, Belgie (docente Ans Tellegen), schilderen in Mendeira, Portugal (docente Els Smulders-Waijers), aquarel-schilderen met zeilschip de Mars op de Wadden, en in de Wieden, Overijssel (docent Jan Velthuis).

Mijn vakanties in Kenia en Tanzania hebben mij veel inspiratie gegeven; de kracht van de natuur, het wild, en vooral de mensen hebben veel indruk op mij gemaakt. De kleuren van Afrika zijn vaak terug te vinden in mijn werk.

Ik werk graag met acryl en olieverf.

Painting is my hobby. As a child I liked to draw and learned to study pictures of people and animals.

After several drawing and painting lessons at the 'Volksuniversiteit' and the 'Vrije Akademie Delft' as well as courses at Paula Kouwenhoven's and Steven van der Kruit's, both of whom are Delft artists, I was able to further develop my techniques. I have picked up painting again in Zutphen with Robert Kwist.

Besides, I have taken several painting holidays: Artizon in the Ardeche, France (teacher/artist Gert Hesseling), 'Tekenstreken' in the Achterhoek, the Netherlands (teacher/artist Marloes Bomers and Dorine van der Ploeg), painting in Grimonster, Belgium (teacher/artist Ans Tellegen), painting in Mendeira, Portugal (teacher/artist Els Smulders-Waijers), watercolour-painting on the sailing ship Mars on the Wadden sea, and in the Wieden, Overijssel (teacher/artist Jan Velthuis).

My trips to Kenya and Tanzania have given me a lot of inspiration. The power of nature, the animals, and the people have made quite an impression on me. Often, I use the colours of Africa in my work.

I like working with acrylic and oil.
